The next “Adventure Time: Distant Lands” special will center on the romance between Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen, and we now have some details on what the story might be about!
Titled “Obsidian”, it’s the second of four planned special episodes to be released after the show’s ending. In a recent Comic-Con at Home panel, Marceline’s voice actor, Olivia Olson, hinted that her character might have to take down some emotional walls and learn to let people in.
More importantly, she confirmed we’re getting new Marceline songs, each chronicling the Vampire Queen’s life from childhood to adulthood, which should be pretty amazing for us stans of the show’s music!
New characters will also make an appearance in the special, like “Glassboy,” who’s voiced by “Steven Universe” voice actor Michaela Dietz.
The episode’s title is also a big hint. “Obsidian” apparently refers to the episode’s setting, which takes place in the Glass Kingdom. Take note that Obsidian, a type of natural glass, is noted for absorbing negativity, but on the wrong hands, it can be toxic. Executive producer Adam Muto says this analogy might factor into PB and Marceline’s relationship, and that we’ll get “snapshots” of their romance in the past.
