Lav Diaz’s 8-hour film ’Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis’ is coming to YouTube
Lav Diaz’s award-winning epic “Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis” will stream for free on June 12 to 14 just in time for Independence Day, TEN17P confirmed on Twitter.

Starring John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual, Cherie Gil, Susan Africa, plus many other acting heavyweights, the film is a blend of history and fantasy that won the Silver Bear in 2016, one of the most prestigious prizes at the Berlinale Film Festival.

Lav, known for making lengthy films, broke boundaries by crafting an expressionistic eight-hour tale about the bloody 1896 Philippine Revolution. Critics described it as a “visual poem” and a “super-sized tapestry of historical fact.”

Oscar-winning legend Meryl Streep, who served as head jury of the festival that year, loved the film and called it “nostalgic and sad.”

You can watch “Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis” for free on June 12 to 14 by going to TEN17P’s YouTube channel.
