Netflix is releasing an anime series about a family facing aftermath of natural disasters
Animated series “Japan Sinks: 2020” is coming to Netflix this July 9!

It is directed by Masaaki Yuasa, and is based on the 1973 science fiction novel “Japan Sinks” by Sakyo Komatsu. The novel proved to be a hit, selling 4.7 million copies worldwide. 

"Japan Sinks" already had two live-action movie adaptations, one in 1973 and another in 2006.

Netflix's series will take a modern turn, centering on an ordinary Japanese family who are among those affected by the massive earthquakes that will put Japan in a state of pandemonium.
